Individualized instruction through small group reading lessons

Mrs. Patty Schmitt grew up in the Westphalia area and graduated from Central Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Schmitt has enjoyed teaching in Fowler for the past 12 years. Prior to teaching in Fowler, she spent 11 years teaching Kindergarten at St. Patrick’s School in Portland, Michigan.Mrs. Schmitt currently teaches First Grade where she shares her love for education with her students by bringing learning to life.  As a child, she often played school with her siblings.  As a teenager she organized family craft projects around the kitchen table for her younger cousins after Sunday dinners at her grandparents. She was inspired by a very dynamic Second Grade Teacher, Sister Margaritas who loved children and made learning fun. Patty aspires to carry on her legacy by sharing in the love for both teaching and children.

Patty lives in Fowler with her husband Dan and their three sons. When she is not teaching she enjoys working in the yard, landscaping, painting and spending time with her family at the cottage.
