4th Grade

Fourth grade is a self-contained program taught by Amy Pung, Nathan Goerge, and Annette Pohl. The curriculum is based on the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks and Objectives. There is continued support for the math and integrated language arts instruction that students have been re- ceiving, with increased emphasis on science and social studies. Fourth grade classes also have the opportunity to participate in the “Big Zoo Lesson”. This is a study field trip that spans five consecutive days at Potter Park Zoo in Lansing. The zoo essentially becomes the child’s classroom for the week, providing them with a unique and up close perspective of zoo life. The students are involved in hands-on learning and they receive in- struction from scientists, naturalists, docents, zookeepers, etc. This is a great learning experience for students each year.
